Commercial Project: Rogues Collars - Product Photography
Incase you didn’t know, I do provide commercial photographic services to various companies that serve the animal industry. I cover all aspects of photography work depending on their individual needs.
This is a case study of some product photography work that I did for a company called Rogues Collars. In this article you will see how I approach working with the client to deliver exactly what they need and ensure they are happy with my work.
Chris is an outstanding individual who goes above and beyond for his clients. He did some product photography for our company and we were amazed by the talent and skill from Knights Photography. We would definitely recommend using his services.

The process is started off by the client and I having a long discussion about the product they need photographed and what they have in mind in terms of styling. Some clients will give me a fully set out brief of how they want things done based on their current branding and website style. If they are not sure then we will brainstorm together and perhaps start by looking at similar examples on google images and discussing what we do and don’t like about the images we found.
If it’s possible, I like to work together with the client in person so that we can decide on the angles and other fine detail together. Sometimes they will come to my home or studio but other times I may take the studio to them. If distance and schedules are an issue which is often the case then I will work remotely. Once they have sent me the products I will lay them out and capture some images on my phone and send them over so they can tell me which angles, close ups and variations they like. Once this has been decided I will lay the products out as requested and shoot them properly with a camera and lighting. (care will be taken to ensure the colours captured are accurate and true to life through a colour checking / calibration process)
Once I have captured proper images they will be sent over to the client for another check prior to editing. It’s at this point they get to make final corrections and decide exactly which ones they would like. From here I will carefully edit the images to their desired specifications. In the examples below you will see that the products have been carefully cut out, pins that held them in place removed and then placed on a pure white background for e-commerce which aligns with the style of the rest of the products on their website.
