Blue Acre Horse Rescue - Ranger's Story
Blue Acre Horse Rescue got a call from some workmen at 9pm one night about a pony running loose on the Colnbrook bypass. These workers had also called the police as they knew it was just a matter of time before he caused an accident.
No one knew where he came from and he didn’t appear to have a home to go to so they went and picked him up and brought him back to the sanctuary. Since nobody ever came forward to claim him, he now lives at Blue Acre as part of the herd.
Ranger was approximately 6 months old when he arrived and is now about 1.5 years old. He has an amazing laid back character, is very inquisitive and friendly and has two different coloured eyes, one of which is a striking blue colour.
One of the young volunteers Millie has formed a very close bond with him. She spends time doing freedom training with him and it’s even got to the point where he will follow her around and even over jumps without tack.
I recently did a photoshoot with Millie and Ranger and that evening I stayed at the sanctuary to photograph the horses at sunset. Im not sure if he’s just inquisitive or if it was because we had spent a long time together that evening but when Ranger saw me, he came running over. Luckily, as he ran towards me the sun was going down behind him and there was a gentle breeze blowing his mane and tail which led to me getting a beautiful image of him.
